RARE
LARGE DUTCH JUG
WITH COURTING COUPLE
Circa 1710

This is a very rare 11 inch tall Dutch jug.
The shape of this item is derived from the shape of the Westerwald jugs that were very popular in the mid to late seventeen century in Holland. The decoration is an on going
scene with a lady getting water from the lake with a large sailboat moving to a courting couple on the front with the madam lounging under a pair of large trees.Moving to a man playing a mandolin while watching another sailboat on the lake. The village
they are from looks to be on the opposite side of the lake along the shoreline.
